Buyer Guide

4x2 refrigerated van truck company RFQ guide

Tell candidate manufacturers what the truck must do and what the quotation must include. A clear requirement brief keeps acceptable alternatives separate from substitutions that change cargo capacity, temperature duty or delivery responsibilities.

Four places an RFQ can lose its meaning

  1. Family maximum versus your finished truck

Write payload in lb or kg and list cargo, occupants and accessories. Ask the supplier to show the mass basis after the insulated body and refrigeration equipment are fitted. Check GVWR and each GAWR with the intended load distribution; a range-level maximum does not establish this configuration's capacity.

  2. Energy label versus route requirement

For an electric alternative, request usable and nominal battery capacity separately, along with charging connector, available AC or DC charging power and the range test cycle. Share daily route length, ambient conditions and refrigeration demand. A nominal pack label cannot determine loaded cold-chain range on its own.

  3. Vehicle price versus delivered scope

List the required Incoterm, destination and inspection activities. Request separate vehicle, equipment, transport, documentation and destination cost lines. An optional budget should name the currency and whether it applies per unit or to the entire order; a supplier preference describes your priorities rather than a verified quality tier.

  4. Series document versus exact configuration

Record chassis model, body specification and model year. Ask who issues each document and what vehicle it identifies. Qualified destination advisers should assess applicable FMVSS, EPA, import and registration requirements. If the proposal is used, require the VIN and unit-level condition records instead of a generic brochure.

For a technical review, agree the load plan and temperature demonstration conditions before inspection. Ask for ambient readings, cargo preconditioning, sensor positions, door events and time-stamped results so the buyer can compare the demonstration with the intended duty. This is a requested verification method; no test result or operational performance is claimed.

If price and service preferences conflict, identify the trade-off explicitly. A lower-cost option may require accepting different equipment, inspection scope or support arrangements. A higher-specification alternative should still explain its duty relevance rather than relying on a category label. Ask for MOQ, pilot-unit possibilities, spare-parts documentation and order-specific lead time in the same response.
